All music should have no other end and aim than the glory of God and the soul’s refreshment; where this is not remembered there is no real music but only a devilish hubbub.
— Johann Sebastian Bach

My mission aligns with this quote by the famous composer, J. S. Bach. Music is a language used to express emotion and even worldview, but it should never be self-indulgent. “Man’s chief end is to glorify God and enjoy Him forever.” -Westminster Shorter Catechism, Answer 1.

The goal of teaching music is to give students a further appreciation for God’s glory and enable them to glorify him further.

[16] Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. [17] And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

Colossians 3:16-17 (ESV)

I hope to teach my students practical music, love for their Creator, and to remind them that whether their hands shake or they forget how to play altogether, God is pleased with their work.
